Get On The Trail With Troop 701

For over 35 years boys join Troop 701 for one simple reason, ‘Because I want to.’  Since 1979 we are proud to see 131 scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout in our program.  Eagle or not, one thing is certain – they all experience Adventure, Discovery & Teamwork together.

About The Troop

We’re Active
In March 2016 after recruitment we grew to 76 registered Scouts on the roster.  A group of 62 scouts attended our week long summer camp at Heritage Scout Reservation in Farmington, PA.  Scouts unable to make camp either aged out of the program or were unable to attend camp due to family vacations or other commitments.

Our strong retention and participation is proof that a boy-led program is fun and engaging.  We are youth led and patrol focuses.  We hold 11 campouts per year and on average Scouts in Troop 701 attend 9.5 campouts.  Scouts in patrol typically have 2 patrol meetings per month.  In 2016, five Scouts attended every campout and earned the Year Round Camper Award for the first time, while many more Scouts attended 10 of the 11 campouts.

If you have a boy who is active in other programs, our strong camp attendance is proof that boys with busy schedules can make it work.  It is common in our troop for Scouts to be involved in marching band, travel baseball, soccer, youth league basketball, lacrosse, and a wide variety of clubs and programs outside of Scouting.

We’re Regional
Our home base is Strongsville, OH, yet we attract and welcome into our program boys from neighboring communities.  In addition to Strongsville, we currently have Scouts in the troop from Brunswick, Berea, Columbia Station, Broadview Heights, and Valley View.
