Hotcakes for Heritage – Saturday, March 2nd

Saturday, March 2, is Boy Scout Troop 701’s second annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebees in Strongsville! Our goal is to raise $2500 to cover the transportation costs for our scouts to attend summer camp at Heritage Scout Reservation in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania.

Tickets are $10 per person. Breakfast, which will be prepared by Applebee’s staff, will include pancakes, bacon, breakfast potatoes, coffee, milk, juice, and soft drinks. Our scouts will be serving the meals, busing the tables, greeting our guests, and selling basket raffle tickets.

We need your help in the following ways:

  1. Please have your scout signup to work for an hour at this event. Signups are open on TroopWebHost. We particularly need scouts aged 14 years old and up as our primary volunteers, per Applebee’s regulations. Younger scouts will be assigned to greet guests, work at the ticket will-call table, and sell raffle tickets.
  2. Buy tickets to attend, and sell tickets to your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors! The more tickets we sell, the lower our cost for the summer camp bus (the third installment of the summer camp fees). Linda Klaben will be organizing the ticket sales – paper ticket sales will start Tuesday, February 5. Thank you, Linda!
  3. Help us with donations. We need in-kind items from businesses for our basket raffle (thank you to the Coray family for organizing our baskets again). If you have a connection to a local business that can provide items for a raffle basket, please contact them and let Tom (CorayT@GOJO.COM) know the outcome. If you are willing to reach out to other businesses, please contact Tom and he can assign a group of businesses to you.
  4. Help us with advertisements. We will again create placemats for the event. If you have a connection to a business that would like to advertise on the placemats seen by every person attending the pancake breakfast, please let them know that a business card sized ad will cost $40. Larger sizes can be arranged for comparable pricing. Families can also purchase ad space to congratulate Eagle Scouts, etc. Please let Laura (laurasta@wowway.com) know if you make a sale, or if you need additional information.

If you have any questions about this project, want to join in to help us achieve our goal, or need help in any way, please contact Linda (mlklaben@wowway.com) or Laura (440-821-2445, laurasta@wowway.com).
