Bonnie Park Tomorrow & April Camp Prep

Troop,

As a reminder, our Tuesday meeting will be held once again outside at Bonnie Park.  We are expecting temperatures in the low 30s tomorrow night so dress warmly and no scout uniform is required.  However, if a scout has a Board of Review schedule for tomorrow, he should still wear his uniform.

Sign up now for camp! April camp sign-ups are underway and as always please sign-up for camp before the start of Tuesday’s meeting.

This month’s camp theme planned by the scouts  is Patrol Outpost.  Patrol Outpost is classic Boy Scout Camping where patrols plan and execute their meals entirely on their own and they develop their own unique activities for the day.  This is a departure from many of our other camps where activity and menu planning is executed as a group by scouts in the PLC and on Staff.  Patrol Outpost promises to deliver new experiences and challenges for the patrols and we’re looking forward to seeing how their planning and teamwork unfolds at camp.  This is a not to miss camp for sure!

Please sign-up now for camp.  Each of the three patrols along with staff  are planning their own unique menus and purchasing their own food for camp.  Since patrols need to know their finalized head count  at the close of tomorrow night’s meeting in order to get their food quantities correct, there will be no late sign-ups permitted.

April camp also marks the return to tent camping.  All campers should be prepared for cold weather this weekend with wind. For new scouts, a packing list can be found on our websites here: https://troop701.com/packing-list/

Night-time temps will dip into the lower 20s, so it’s probably a good idea to consider bringing an extra blanket to augment a 3 season sleeping bag.  Fleece pajamas really help out too.  Some additional essential items worth highlighting from the packing list include a warm hat, gloves, ground pad, extra socks and tarp.

Even if the forecast promises dry weather you should count on soggy Spring soil.

Be Prepared! Correct packing and bringing a positive attitude will set a scout up for a fun and successful camp.
