Backpacking Trek Planning

Tomorrow is the deadline to register for Backpacking Camp.

The troop will be bringing extra backpacks and other gear to tomorrow night’s troop meeting for those who need gear.  If anyone in the troop also has extra youth sized gear that you wish to lend or donate to the troop – please bring your gear too.  Quality youth backpacks are always in short supply.

Equipment should never stand in the way of a Scout who wants to take on the challenges of a Backpacking trek.  If any scout is in need of equipment, please contact Scoutmaster Tirey no later than Wednesday and we will make every attempt to secure necessary gear.

Later this week, a backpacking pack list and food instructions will also be sent out, please look for those instructions and have your scout review them carefully.

Parents while it is your role to support your scout, remember that it is a Scout’s job to pack his own pack and assemble the food he will need on the trek.  This is how Scouts grow and learn accountability.

For 40 years, boys have joined Troop 701 of Strongsville, Ohio for one simple reason: "Because they wanted to." Together on the Scouting trail to Eagle they experience adventure, discovery and teamwork.
